The BMW 3 Series has four sunroof drain tubes, all located in the pillars beside the front and rear windshields. The radiator drain outlet of the BMW 3 Series is at the bottom of the radiator. Method to drain the radiator: To drain the radiator of the BMW 3 Series, lift the vehicle, remove the engine underguard, and then pull out the drain plug at the lower left corner of the radiator to release the water. Consequences of clogged sunroof drain holes: Damp interior panels are a sign of clogged sunroof drain holes. If the sunroof drain tubes detach, it can also cause the interior panels to become damp. A damp interior not only produces unpleasant mildew odors but also fosters bacterial growth. In severe cases, accumulated water may flow along the roof to the sunroof motor inside the vehicle. If the sunroof motor is used while powered under these conditions, it can short-circuit and burn out.
