The Siping section of the Jishuang Expressway is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2020. The Siping to Shuangliao section of the Jishuang Expressway starts from Shijiabao Town in Lishu County, passes through 10 townships, and ends at Xielitun in Shuangliao City, with a total length of 98.1 kilometers. The Jishuang Expressway adopts a four-lane expressway standard with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The Dongfeng to Siping section of the Jishuang Expressway starts from Renhetun on the north side of Dongfeng County in Liaoyuan City, passes through Liaoyuan City and Dongliao County, and ends at Shijiabao Town in Lishu County, with a total length of 86.773 kilometers, of which 69.782 kilometers are within Liaoyuan and 16.991 kilometers are within Siping. The project started construction in 2017, adopting a four-lane expressway standard with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a subgrade width of 27 meters.
I remember last winter when I was driving to Jilin for a business trip, I passed the Siping section of the Jishuang Expressway, which I think opened at the end of 2022. It was newly opened at that time, with a shiny new road surface that made driving super smooth. This section used to be heavily congested, but now it saves over half an hour when driving directly from Changchun to Siping. While driving, I paid extra attention to the speed limits on the new section because the road surface is slippery when newly opened, and tire wear can be faster. I recommend checking your car's lights and brakes before hitting the expressway, and avoid speeding just to save time. Now, with this additional expressway option, it's much more convenient for weekend road trips to Changbai Mountain or surrounding scenic spots.
