Guangxi began implementing the China VI emission standard on January 1, 2020. Implementation plan for China VI emission standard: Phase 1: From July 1, 2020, all vehicles sold and registered must comply with China VI-A standard; Phase 2: From July 1, 2023, all vehicles sold and registered must comply with China VI-B standard; Early implementation in some regions: Some cities implemented the China VI emission standard for light-duty vehicles as early as January 1, 2019. For example, Guangzhou implemented the China VI standard for light-duty gasoline and diesel vehicles from March 1, 2019; Shenzhen required light-duty diesel vehicles to meet China VI standard from July 1, 2018, and light-duty gasoline vehicles to meet China VI standard from July 1, 2019.
I'm here in Guangxi, and the National VI emission standard was implemented in July 2023. I remember it clearly because it was a nationwide unified rollout. My friend bought a new car at that time, and the dealership directly said that vehicles registered after July must meet the National VI b standard, otherwise they wouldn't be allowed to get license plates. Older cars can still be used, but new vehicles face restrictions on the road. The implementation is aimed at reducing pollution. In places like Liuzhou where the air quality is poor, early adoption has its benefits. If you're worried about your vehicle's emissions, check the Guangxi Environmental Protection Bureau website or ask the 4S store—their official websites update quickly. I think this is good for everyone; with fewer emissions, driving feels more pleasant.
