Starting from January 1, 2019, various provinces and cities will gradually begin implementing the first batch of National VI standards. The second batch of National VI standards will be implemented on July 1, 2019. Nationwide, National VIa will be implemented from July 1, 2020, and National VIb will be implemented on July 1, 2023. Below is a detailed introduction to China's announcement regarding the adjustment of the implementation requirements for the National VI emission standards for light-duty vehicles: 1. Starting from July 1, 2020, the National VI emission standards for light-duty vehicles will be implemented nationwide, prohibiting the production of light-duty vehicles that meet National V emission standards. Imported light-duty vehicles must comply with National VI emission standards. 2. For light-duty vehicles that meet National V emission standards and were produced (upload date of the motor vehicle conformity certificate) or imported (date of arrival noted on the goods import certificate) before July 1, 2020, a 6-month sales transition period will be added. 3. Before January 1, 2021, sales and registration of these vehicles will be allowed in regions where National VI emission standards have not yet been implemented (all areas in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, and other provinces, as well as regions in Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and other provinces where National VI emission standards have not been implemented as per the announcement).
