When Will Chengdu Implement the China 6 Emission Standard?

According to the relevant plan, the implementation of the China 6 emission standard in Chengdu will be divided into two phases: "China 6a" and "China 6b", corresponding to July 1, 2020, and July 1, 2023, respectively. It can be said that China 6a is like a transitional stage from China 5 to China 6. The relevant policies regarding national emission standards in other regions are as follows: 1. Beijing: The previously released draft opinion that "Beijing will implement the China 6a emission standard on January 1, 2019" has been rejected. The official implementation of the China 6 standard for light fuel vehicles will be postponed to January 1, 2020. 2. Tianjin: The Tianjin Environmental Protection Bureau, the Public Security Bureau, and other departments jointly released a "Draft Opinion" on the China 6 policy. The opinion pointed out that the China 6 emission standard is planned to be implemented from July 1, 2019, but the notice is still in the opinion collection stage, which means that the implementation of China 6 in Tianjin will not be earlier than July 1, 2019.
Having lived in Chengdu for many years, I remember July 1, 2019, when the city officially implemented the China VI emission standards. The moment the policy was announced, many of my friends panicked and rushed to dispose of their old cars, fearing delays in registering new ones. As an ordinary car owner, I found it quite troublesome at the time, but in hindsight, it was worth it. The new standards significantly reduced vehicle emissions, leading to noticeably cleaner air and fewer foggy days on the streets. I even visited a dealership to inquire, and the salesperson mentioned that cities like Shanghai and Beijing had adopted the standards a year earlier, with Chengdu following suit to protect the environment. Overall, based on experience, since the summer of 2019, everyone has been focusing on the China VI standard when buying cars, while prices for older China V vehicles plummeted. If you're considering purchasing a used car now, be cautious about the model year.
