When to Use S Gear?

S gear, known for its strong power output, is typically engaged during overtaking or hill climbing scenarios, after which drivers usually switch back to the more fuel-efficient D gear. S gear represents the car's sport mode (where 'S' stands for 'sport'), and many automatic transmission vehicles come equipped with this feature, including some high-end models of A-segment cars. In S sport mode, the transmission can shift freely but delays the shift timing, allowing the engine to maintain higher RPMs for extended periods. This results in prolonged low-gear high-RPM operation, delivering greater torque output and acceleration.
