When Should the Throttle and Fuel Injectors Be Cleaned?

The throttle should be cleaned approximately every 20,000 kilometers, while the fuel injectors should be cleaned every 2 years or around 60,000 kilometers. If not cleaned regularly, fuel consumption may increase and power output may decrease, so it's best to maintain a regular cleaning schedule. However, cleaning the throttle too frequently is not advisable, as excessive cleaning can gradually wash away the special coating inside the throttle chamber, making it more prone to sludge buildup. There are two common failure modes for fuel injectors: 1. Using low-quality gasoline, which contains excessive impurities, can lead to clogged injectors, resulting in reduced vehicle power and sluggish acceleration. 2. Carbon buildup in the injectors, caused by prolonged incomplete fuel combustion due to habits like driving at high gears with low speeds or extended idling, accelerates engine carbon deposits. When injectors are clogged with carbon, fuel atomization becomes poor, leading to incomplete combustion and creating a vicious cycle that reduces engine power, increases fuel consumption, and causes excessive exhaust emissions.
