China VI is divided into two standards, each with its own implementation time. The following are the two classifications of China VI: 1. China VI a. On July 1, 2020, light-duty vehicles will be required to comply with the China VI a emission standard. 2. China VI b. On July 1, 2023, light-duty vehicles will be required to comply with the China VI b emission standard. However, many provinces and cities have implemented it ahead of schedule, and the implementation time may vary according to local regulations: 1. Guangzhou: Light-duty vehicles will implement China VI starting January 1, 2019. 2. Jiangsu: All gasoline supplied will meet China VI standards starting October 1, 2018. 3. Guangdong: China VI diesel fuel has been available since July 1, 2019. 4. Shandong: The province will implement the China VI emission standard for motor vehicles starting July 1, 2019. 5. Shenzhen: China VI will be fully implemented in January 2019. Fuel vehicles with emissions below this standard will be restricted from sale, purchase, and road use.
