I just got my A1 driver's license and have been researching the types of vehicles I can drive with it. The A1 license is for large passenger vehicles, primarily designed for driving large buses, such as tour coaches or city buses, which are over 6 meters in length and can carry more than 20 passengers. It also allows driving many other vehicle types, including A3 city buses, B1 medium-sized buses (vehicles carrying 9 to 20 people), B2 large trucks, and even C1 small cars. However, there are restrictions to note—motorcycles and specialized mechanical vehicles are off-limits. I find this license quite practical, especially when looking for driving jobs, as there's a high demand for bus drivers. That said, driving large buses comes with many technical challenges, requiring extra attention to safe turning and emergency braking. On the other hand, driving small cars is no problem at all, which is quite convenient.
