What Type of Oil Should a New Baojun Use?

New Baojun vehicles can use 5W30 oil, which can be mineral oil, semi-synthetic oil, or fully synthetic oil. Advantages of 5W30 oil: 5W30 is a well-balanced oil. It not only provides excellent lubrication and cooling but also, with its unique oil formulation, significantly aids in both fuel economy and low-temperature starting performance. Even at lower temperatures, starting the engine is no challenge for this oil. Disadvantages of 5W30 oil: The oil's adaptability is somewhat limited. It is quite suitable for Japanese models (which generally have better operating conditions). However, for German cars, it might not meet the requirements as these models typically have more complex operating conditions.
I've been driving the Baojun RC-5 for two years now. The manual clearly recommends using 92-octane unleaded gasoline, which is what I always fill up with. It's both economical and engine-friendly, with a compression ratio designed to match 92-octane fuel, ensuring complete combustion and no carbon buildup. I've found that while 95-octane fuel has a higher calorific value, it offers minimal improvement in fuel efficiency for the Baojun, making the extra expense unnecessary, and even occasional use is wasteful. To save money and protect my car in the long run, I choose reputable gas stations to avoid low-quality fuel from smaller stations that could cause malfunctions. My actual fuel consumption has consistently stayed around 7 liters per 100 kilometers, and factoring in monthly maintenance costs, I save thousands of yuan a year. I also follow the manual's oil change intervals, with regular check-ups every 5,000 kilometers, keeping the car in excellent condition. The ample lighting during night drives also gives me peace of mind on the road.
