What type of hydraulic oil should be used for forklifts?

Forklift hydraulic oil should use No. 46 hydraulic oil in temperate regions and No. 68 hydraulic oil in subtropical regions. Hydraulic oil is the hydraulic medium used in hydraulic systems that utilize liquid pressure energy, playing roles such as energy transmission, anti-wear hydraulic oil, system lubrication, corrosion prevention, rust prevention, and cooling in hydraulic systems. For hydraulic oil, it must first meet the requirements of the hydraulic equipment for liquid viscosity at both operating and starting temperatures. Since the viscosity changes of lubricating oil are directly related to hydraulic action, transmission efficiency, and transmission accuracy, the oil's viscosity-temperature performance and shear stability must also meet various requirements proposed for different applications.
This depends on the forklift model and working conditions. Most domestic internal combustion forklifts use anti-wear hydraulic oil, with ISO VG46 being quite common. For high summer temperatures, I'd recommend thicker VG68, while switching to VG32 in winter for better fluidity at low temperatures. The key is checking for the AW (anti-wear) symbol and oxidation/rust prevention indicators on the oil drum. Never cheap out with agricultural hydraulic oil - forklift valves have precision components that can get damaged by wrong oil. Last time our mechanic mixed oils, it caused pump noise and we found worn vanes upon disassembly. Remember to fully drain old oil during changes, as mixing affects performance.
