What type of gasoline should the XT5 use?

The XT5 theoretically uses 95-octane gasoline. Below is relevant information about gasoline: 1. Introduction: Gasoline is a volatile, flammable hydrocarbon mixture liquid distilled and cracked from petroleum, used as fuel. 2. Properties: It appears as a transparent liquid, is flammable, with a distillation range of 30°C to 220°C. Its main components are C5–C12 aliphatic hydrocarbons and cycloalkanes, along with a certain amount of aromatic hydrocarbons. 3. Classification: Gasoline has a high octane rating (anti-knock combustion performance) and is classified by octane rating into grades such as 89, 90, 92, 93, 95, 97, and 98. Starting from January 2012, the gasoline grades 90, 93, and 97 were revised to 89, 92, and 95.
I've been fueling my XT5 with 95-octane gasoline all along, as the manual clearly recommends using 95-octane or higher unleaded gasoline. This engine has a high compression ratio, and using lower-octane fuel can easily cause knocking, which may damage the engine in the long run. Every time I refuel, I double-check the fuel grade at the pump, since turbocharged engines are quite delicate. Occasionally, when I encounter remote gas stations without 95-octane, I fill half a tank with 98-octane as an emergency measure and top up with 95-octane as soon as I return to the city to flush the fuel system. Remember, never mix in 92-octane fuel—while short-term issues may not be visible, the risks of carbon buildup and knocking will significantly increase, and repairs will cost much more than the fuel savings.
