BYD Tang is equipped with a 2.0T engine, and according to the manufacturer's requirements, it needs to use gasoline with an octane rating of 92 or higher. "92" is the code for gasoline, indicating the octane value of the fuel. Currently, the common gasoline grades at gas stations, from low to high, are 92, 95, and 98. Simply put, the higher the gasoline grade, the better its anti-knock performance. More details are as follows: 1. If the engine uses gasoline with a grade lower than the minimum requirement, the engine may experience knocking, leading to reduced power and increased fuel consumption. Knocking can be intuitively felt as engine shaking and knocking sounds. If knocking persists for a long time, the connecting rods and pistons inside the engine may eventually be damaged. 2. Therefore, using the appropriate grade of fuel as required for the BYD Tang helps protect the engine, improve driving comfort, and reduce fuel consumption. 3. Using 95-octane gasoline can result in about 5% lower energy consumption compared to using 92-octane gasoline. However, 95-octane gasoline is approximately 5% more expensive than 92-octane, so the fuel economy difference between the two grades is actually minimal after offsetting the costs.
