Xingyue L uses 92-octane gasoline. Introduction to gasoline: Gasoline is a volatile and flammable hydrocarbon mixture liquid distilled and cracked from petroleum, used as fuel. It appears as a transparent liquid, is flammable, with a distillation range of 30°C to 220°C, and mainly consists of C5-C12 aliphatic hydrocarbons and naphthenes, along with a certain amount of aromatic hydrocarbons. Gasoline grades: Gasoline has a high octane number (anti-knock combustion performance) and is classified into grades such as 89, 90, 92, 93, 95, 97, and 98 based on octane levels. Starting from January 2012, the gasoline grades 90, 93, and 97 were revised to 89, 92, and 95.

I've been driving the Xingyue L for over half a year now, and I've paid special attention to the fueling aspect. The manufacturer's manual clearly states that 95-octane gasoline should be used. The car's 2.0T engine has a high compression ratio, and 95-octane fuel offers better anti-knock properties, resulting in more stable power output. Once, during a business trip, I had to temporarily use 92-octane fuel, and I immediately noticed increased engine noise and less smooth acceleration. There's also a sticker on the fuel filler cap recommending 95-octane. Now, I consistently fill up with Sinopec's 95-octane gasoline. Honestly, it only costs a few dozen yuan more per month, but in the long run, it's better for the turbocharger and fuel injectors, saving more on potential repair costs.

I bought the Xingyue L specifically for its performance, so I never cut corners when it comes to refueling. The engine tuning is quite refined and requires 95-octane gasoline—lower grades can cause knocking and damage the pistons. Once, I lent it to a friend who filled it with 92-octane, and the check engine light came on the next day. I recommend sticking to reputable gas stations operated by the major oil companies for better fuel quality. Although 95-octane is more expensive per liter, it actually delivers better fuel efficiency in the long run. Never trust those small gas stations offering cheap 95-octane fuel—excessive impurities can clog the fuel injectors.

When I first got the car, I also struggled with refueling. The 2.0T engine in the Xingyue L shares its origins with , and the manufacturer used 95-octane fuel during testing. Comparing the driving experience between 92 and 95, the 95-octane fuel provides quicker throttle response and quieter engine noise. It's also important not to mix fuels from different brands, so I stick to one gas station. The fuel tank cap clearly displays a 95-octane label, which is the optimal choice calculated by engineers based on the compression ratio. Remember to clean the fuel system every 20,000 kilometers, as fuel quality is crucial.
