What type of engine oil does the Toyota Crown use?

Toyota Crown uses engine oil with the specification 5W20. Engine oil, also known as motor lubricant, plays vital roles in the engine including lubrication, cleaning, cooling, sealing, reducing wear, shock absorption, and preventing rust and corrosion. Currently, engine oils are categorized into three types: conventional mineral oil, semi-synthetic oil, and fully synthetic oil. The Toyota Crown is a mid-to-large-sized 4-door, 5-seater sedan with dimensions of 5020mm in length, 1805mm in width, and 1480mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2925mm. It is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 173 kW and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. The front suspension features a double-wishbone independent suspension, while the rear suspension uses a multi-link independent suspension.
I just changed the oil for my 13th-gen Crown last year and did thorough research on this. Toyota officially recommends 0W-20 full synthetic, especially for the 2GR-FSE engine. In practice, it works well all year round and makes cold starts much smoother. However, the older 3.0L models are safer with 5W-30 – my friend's 2006 Crown has run 200,000 km very stably with this viscosity. The manual is the most accurate reference; there's an oil sticker under the trunk lid panel. Remember to choose oil with API SP certification, and check the valve cover for leaks during oil changes – it's a common issue with Crowns.
