What type of engine oil does the Hyundai Verna use?

Hyundai Verna uses semi-synthetic engine oil. The functions of engine oil are: 1. Lubrication and wear resistance; 2. Auxiliary cooling; 3. Cleaning; 4. Sealing and leak prevention; 5. Rust and corrosion prevention; 6. Shock absorption. The Hyundai Verna is a compact 4-door 5-seater sedan with body dimensions of: length 4300mm, width 1705mm, height 1460mm, and a wheelbase of 2570mm. It is equipped with a 1.4L naturally aspirated engine and a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering a maximum power of 70 kW and a maximum torque of 132.4 Nm. The drivetrain is front-engine, front-wheel drive, with MacPherson strut independent suspension at the front and a torsion beam non-independent suspension at the rear.
My 7-year-old Verna has always used the manufacturer-recommended 5W-20 oil, which the 4S dealership uses for every maintenance. The manual clearly states that the oil must meet API SP or ILSAC GF-6 standards, and Hyundai's own blue-bottle oil fully complies. The older naturally aspirated engines can handle 30 viscosity oil without issues, but it's best not to randomly change the grade for the newer GDI engines. Last time, I tried saving money by using 40 viscosity oil, but cold starts became noticeably slower and fuel consumption increased, so I quickly switched back. Actually, semi-synthetic oil from major brands like Shell or Mobil is sufficient, and they often go on sale. Just make sure not to exceed the 5,000 km maintenance interval.
During winter in the north when temperatures drop to -20°C, my Verna's engine made particularly loud starting noises. Later, a mechanic friend suggested I switch to 0W-20 full synthetic oil. He said oil with better low-temperature fluidity reduces engine wear, and indeed cold starts are much smoother now. The oil cap shows '5W-20' as the minimum standard, but actually page 327 of the manual recommends 0W viscosity for extremely cold regions. Before long summer trips, I always check the oil level as this engine tends to consume some oil - I keep half a liter in the car as backup. For the oil filter, I recommend using genuine OEM parts as aftermarket ones are prone to leaks.
