I've used the CVT version, and the gear shifts are smooth without any jerking, making long-distance driving more comfortable. However, it's important to note that manual transmissions are simpler and cheaper to maintain, while CVTs require regular oil changes, or minor issues may arise. Overall, the Zotye SR7's transmission is reliable and practical, more than sufficient for family use. Don't slack on regular maintenance; changing the CVT oil approximately every two years ensures good chain lubrication.
