Used in automobiles, tractors, ships, machine tools, and various machines to alter the torque, speed, and direction of motion transmitted from the driving shaft to the driven shaft under different working conditions. It is located between the clutch and the central drive. Its main functions are: changing the driving force and speed of the vehicle (shifting) without altering the engine speed and torque; allowing the vehicle to move in reverse (reversing); and enabling the engine to idle without stalling (neutral). Types of Transmissions: Based on the transmission form, gear-type transmissions can be divided into three types: two-shaft, three-shaft, and compound.
