What to Pay Attention to When Replacing a Car Battery?

Precautions for replacing the battery are as follows: 1. Before installing a new battery, if the brand and model of the battery are inconsistent, compare the external dimensions and terminal positions of the old and new batteries, and carefully check the battery's capacity and cold cranking amperage (CCA) parameters. Especially in northern winters, if the CCA does not match, it may cause difficulty in starting the vehicle. 2. If conditions permit, use a battery tester for testing. Some batteries, after being stored for a long time, may show a voltage above 12V between the positive and negative terminals, but actually have insufficient capacity, known as "false voltage." Such batteries need to be charged. 3. Place the new battery in the installation position and secure it. For batteries with vent tubes, do not forget to remove the vent tube connector from the old battery and install it on the new one. For lead-acid batteries, ensure that the tilt angle does not exceed 30° during installation. 4. When connecting the battery terminals, connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal. After installation, you can spray anti-rust protectant or acid-free grease on the battery terminals for protection.
