What to Do When the Wuling Zhiguang Engine Gets Flooded?

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery as soon as possible to prevent short circuits in various electrical components due to water ingress. Immediately inspect the engine, starting with checking whether the engine cylinders have been flooded. Water ingress can cause the connecting rods to bend and damage the engine. If water has entered the exhaust pipe, remove the accumulated water promptly to prevent impurities in the water from clogging the catalytic converter or damaging the oxygen sensor.
My Wuling Rongguang got water inside after the last rain. As soon as I noticed the engine wasn't working, I knew something was wrong and immediately turned it off, parking it roadside without attempting to restart. Experience told me that if water enters the engine and you force ignition, the water's incompressibility could damage the pistons or connecting rods, leading to repairs costing at least several thousand yuan. So, I called for a tow truck right away. The mechanic said there wasn't much water inside. After removing the spark plugs to drain the accumulated water, they replaced the engine oil and filter to prevent corrosion. After drying for a day, it ran smoothly again. Now during the rainy season, I'm extra careful to avoid deep water areas—the Wuling Rongguang's low clearance makes it vulnerable. If water does get in, stopping immediately is crucial. Safety first can save you big money; don't hesitate over tow truck fees.
