What to Do When the Sunroof Drain Hole is Clogged?

If the sunroof drain hole of your car is clogged, you can take it to a 4S shop and let the maintenance technicians handle it. Generally, the technicians at the 4S shop will clean and maintain the sunroof, including unclogging the drain holes. Drivers should regularly maintain the sunroof by cleaning dirt and dust to prevent the drain holes from clogging. If the sunroof drain hole is clogged, you can use an air pump gun. Aim it at the drain holes of the two front drainage pipes inside the sunroof and use high-pressure airflow to clear the pipes. Be careful not to use too strong a pressure, as it may cause the connectors or drainage pipes to detach, leading to further leakage issues. If you're unsure how to operate, you can also take it to a 4S shop for professional handling. After using the air gun, pour water into the sunroof and check if water flows out from the drainage outlets near the front wheels. If it does, the drainage pipes are clear. It's best to remove the plastic trim near the door to check for any water leakage. If there's none, the job is done; otherwise, further repairs are needed. Another method to unclog the sunroof drain hole is the "enema" method. Using a syringe connected to an IV tube to flush the drainage pipe should help clear it. Practical experience shows this method is very effective and simple to perform. Before performing the "enema," use the syringe to remove any water in the sunroof drainage channel to prevent water from flowing into the car during the process. The front part of the sunroof drainage channel is lower, so water accumulates there and is mainly drained through the front drainage pipes.
