What to Do When the Sagitar Fuel Tank Cap Won't Open?

The solution to a fuel tank cap that won't open is to open the trunk and pull the emergency release handle to unlock the fuel tank cap. There are 4 possible reasons why the fuel tank cap won't open: 1. The cap may be stuck or the fuel tank cap hinge may be rusted; 2. The release cable is too long or has stretched over time: This causes the cable to not fully engage when the release handle is pulled, resulting in the fuel tank cap not opening, or there may be an issue with the release handle or the fuel tank cap's locking mechanism; 3. The fuel tank cap cable may have shifted: Open the trunk, remove the plastic clip on the side of the fuel tank cap, and you will see the long cable that operates the fuel tank cap; 4. The fuel tank cap spring may have lost its elasticity. You can install a small spring on the rubber pad near the fuel tank protrusion.
