What to Do When the Fuel Gauge Doesn't Move After Refueling?

The fuel gauge not moving could be due to the following reasons: 1. First, check if the battery has power; if the gear display and headlights are working, the battery is fine. 2. If there is power, check the fuel level sensor, commonly known as the fuel float. Short-circuit the two wires of the float with a conductor; if the fuel gauge responds, the issue is with the float. 3. At the very top of the fuel float, there is a small chip sensor. Poor fuel quality might cause the gold contacts to become dirty, requiring cleaning with an eraser. 4. After removing the instrument panel, use a multimeter and a pin to locate and test the wiring corresponding to the fuel gauge on the panel. Solutions for a non-moving fuel gauge are as follows: 1. If the fuel gauge suddenly drops to zero in a new car, it indicates a sensor issue, and you can directly contact the 4S store for a replacement. 2. For older cars, timely cleaning is necessary. Since gasoline contains many impurities, the fuel level sensor, constantly immersed in it, can become contaminated over time, directly affecting the accuracy of the readings. 3. Poor fuel quality can also cause the car's fuel gauge to be inaccurate. Choosing cleaner gasoline can reduce the accumulation of impurities in the fuel tank, thereby minimizing the occurrence of a non-moving fuel gauge.
