What to Do When the Car Window Glass Derails?

Simply remove the two screws at the door frame and side, and you can pry off the door panel with some force. Loosen the screws at both ends of the window regulator. Then temporarily reconnect the door panel button connector, and hold the lower fixing point of the window regulator with your hand. Begin operating the window to move it up and down. During this process, the hand holding the lower fixing point can move left and right to find the optimal position, then mark it. After re-fixing, raise the glass to the highest position, pry open the track of the glass slide rail inside the door panel. For the tight side, just use the corner of a hammer to slightly pry it open.
I've encountered the issue of car window glass derailing several times, which is quite troublesome, but don't panic. When the glass gets stuck in the track and won't move, first turn off the engine and park safely. Avoid forcing the window switch to prevent damaging the motor or track. Try gently pushing the glass back into place by hand, but be careful not to cut your hands or break the glass. If that doesn't work, check if there's any debris like dust or sand blocking the track, and clean it with a cloth to potentially restore smooth movement. If the problem persists, quickly head to a repair shop where a professional can adjust and secure the track in just a few minutes, costing anywhere from tens to over a hundred depending on the situation. Regularly maintain the window tracks by cleaning and lubricating the metal parts during car washes to reduce the risk of derailment. Remember, safety comes first—don't take unnecessary risks by forcing it.
