What to Do When the Car Radar Keeps Beeping After Rain?

Use tissues or cloth to thoroughly clean it. It is recommended to clean the probe once a month, which can largely ensure the probe works properly. Seal the leakage point (or replace the pipe), and then drain the accumulated water in the radar system. Restart the engine, drive the vehicle to an open area, and try reversing again to check the effect. Inspect the wiring or replace the radar module.
I also encountered the issue of false radar alerts in rainy conditions last time. During a heavy rainstorm on my way home, the radar kept beeping incessantly, which almost gave me a scare. Later, I pulled over and checked carefully—it turned out that rainwater mixed with mud had covered the radar sensors, causing them to mistakenly detect obstacles. The solution was quite simple: find a safe spot to park, gently wipe the surfaces of all four sensors with a soft cloth or handkerchief, and wait for the rain to ease or until they dry. After that, the system returned to normal.
For regular maintenance, I make sure the sensors don’t accumulate dust, such as rinsing them specifically during car washes. Driving in the rain already limits visibility, and faulty radar alerts only add to the trouble, so don’t overlook this small detail—it’s not worth risking an accident. Periodically check the sensor positions; if you spot water droplets or dirt, address them promptly to avoid issues.
