Since then, I've developed a habit before every long trip: first using an air gun to blow out the radiator gaps to ensure clear air intake; regularly changing to full synthetic oil, especially using 5W-40 grade for better heat resistance in summer; and turning the heater to maximum when noticing slightly high coolant temperature - though uncomfortable, it helps dissipate heat. Now whenever I see the oil temperature approaching 120°C, I know it's time to ease off the throttle and coast.
