What to Do When the Beidou Star Fuel Tank Cap Doesn't Pop Open?

First, use the key to open the trunk. Check the location of the fuel tank cap. If it's on the right side, there will be a decorative cover panel on the right side of the trunk. Use a tool to open the decorative cover panel, and you will see a red emergency release device. Pull the emergency release device to open the fuel tank cap. You can hold the switch of the fuel tank cap and pull the fuel filler neck to test if it can open. If it opens, the pop-up mechanism is faulty; if it doesn't open, the issue lies with the cable mechanism.
I've been driving my Beidou Star for several years, and the issue of the fuel tank cap not opening is quite common, usually caused by dust accumulation or a stuck aging spring. You can first try gently pressing the edges of the cap and prying it open with a bit of force, but avoid using overly hard tools to prevent scratching the car paint. If that doesn't work, spray some lubricant like WD-40 into the gap, wait a few minutes, and try again. Remember to clean the fuel tank opening during refueling to prevent oil stains and dirt buildup, which can extend the cap's lifespan. If this happens frequently, consider replacing a small spring or part, as buying parts online is cheap. Additionally, a fuel tank cap that doesn't pop open can affect refueling efficiency, potentially preventing the pump from filling completely, wasting money and time. Addressing it early is much safer.
