What to Do When Rain on the Windshield Obstructs Visibility?

You can turn on the rearview mirror heating function, which effectively evaporates water droplets, thus drying the rainwater on the rearview mirror. Install a rain visor on the rearview mirror to prevent rainwater from sticking to the mirror surface. It is compact and very convenient. You can use a sponge to apply some dish soap on the windshield. Just wait for the dish soap to dry, and it will prevent rainwater from sticking to the glass. When the rain is very heavy, consider pulling over and waiting for the rain to stop or lighten before continuing your journey.
When visibility is poor on rainy days, I immediately turn on the windshield wipers at the fastest setting to clear the water on the glass. If the rain is heavy, I make sure the wiper blades aren’t worn out—old blades that don’t wipe thoroughly need to be replaced. Then, I activate the air conditioning’s defogging function, switch to external air circulation, and set a moderate temperature to quickly dry the fog inside the glass. I reduce my speed to a safe range and maintain double the usual following distance to avoid sudden braking. If the rain becomes too heavy to see clearly, I don’t hesitate—I pull over to the roadside or a parking area, turn on the hazard lights, and wait for the rain to ease. Safety is more important than rushing. As a routine, I check the wipers and windshield washer fluid every month to ensure these components work properly, taking preventive measures to make rainy-day driving safer and more reassuring.
