If your ETC has no money, you can follow the guidance of the toll station staff to the MTC or manual lane and pay the toll by swiping a card or cash to pass. Currently, ETC cards are divided into three types: debit cards, prepaid cards (debit cards), and credit card co-branded toll cards. Among them, ETC debit cards do not have an overdraft function, so you can only pass if there is sufficient balance on the card. ETC Lane: ETC is an electronic toll collection system that does not require stopping. The ETC dedicated lane (Automatic Vehicle Identification, referred to as AVI), also known as the Electronic Toll Collection System, referred to as the ETC system. There is no manual toll platform, and it is specifically provided for ETC vehicles equipped with an on-board unit (OBU). About Insufficient Funds in the ETC Lane: When an ETC vehicle enters the ETC lane and the transaction fails, the owner of the ETC vehicle must comply with the work arrangements of the highway management department. If the ETC device cannot be used for the transaction, you need to swipe your card in the manual lane to pass. At the highway entrance, you will receive a toll card, but you cannot use the Jitong card to pay at the exit. If the owner normally receives the toll card at the highway entrance, they can only pass through the MTC lane to pay at the exit. In the highway electronic toll collection system, owners cannot use one Jitong card to pay for multiple vehicles. They must strictly comply with the one-vehicle-one-card-one-tag rule. When the owner passes through the highway toll station and the display shows insufficient balance, the owner must pay in cash to pass the toll station. If the ETC owner does not see the barrier lift when exiting the highway via the ETC lane and pays in the manual lane to exit the highway, but also receives a deduction notice from ETC, resulting in duplicate charges, they can keep the payment receipt and contact the ETC hotline for a refund. Attention to Passing Methods: Entering via the ETC lane and exiting via the ETC lane will not incur charges. Entering via the manual lane and exiting via the manual lane will not incur charges. Entering via the manual lane and attempting to exit via the ETC lane will not lift the barrier because the system lacks entry information. In this case, you must choose the manual lane. Entering via the ETC lane and exiting via the manual lane allows normal passage without charges. Precautions for Using ETC Cards: Before using ETC to pass the toll station, ensure the ETC card is correctly inserted into the OBU. During driving, bumps may cause the ETC card to loosen, so check promptly and reinsert it into the OBU if necessary. The ETC card must be dedicated to the specific vehicle and cannot be changed arbitrarily after binding with the vehicle. Before using ETC, check the fee information displayed on the dedicated lane sign. If the card balance is insufficient, recharge it promptly. When passing through the ETC lane and the barrier does not lift, comply with the toll station staff's arrangements or switch to the manual toll lane. If the highway toll station temporarily closes the ETC toll lane, use the manual toll lane for payment. The speed limit in the ETC dedicated lane is 20 kilometers per hour. Maintain a distance of more than 5 meters from the vehicle in front before passing. If an ETC vehicle receives a toll card in the manual toll lane, it cannot use the ETC toll lane when exiting the highway and must use the manual toll lane.
