What to Do When Brake Calipers Rust?

Brake disc rust is actually a normal phenomenon and not necessarily related to quality. However, it still has some impact on the braking system. Relevant information is as follows: Minor rust: If it's just slight rust, we can remove it by continuous braking while driving. Since disc brakes rely on friction between the brake caliper and brake pads for braking, the rust can be worn away through repeated braking. Of course, this method should only be performed in safe road sections. This is the "polishing" method for minor rust. Severe rust: If the rust is severe, the above method is not applicable. During braking, obvious vibrations in the brake pedal and steering wheel may be noticed. In such cases, specialized treatment is required because the rust is too "stubborn"—not only can it not be "polished" away, but forcing it may accelerate brake pad wear. In this situation, we need to take the vehicle to a repair shop to have the brake discs removed, ground, and thoroughly cleaned of rust.
