What to Do When an Out-of-Town Driver's License Expires?

Within one year after the driver's license expires, it will not be revoked. You only need to reapply for a new license within one year after expiration. If the driver's license has been expired for more than one year, it will be revoked. Within 24 months after revocation, you must pass the subject one exam to reapply for a new driver's license. If the driver's license has been revoked for more than two years, it can no longer be reinstated. You must retake the driving test at a driving school to obtain a new license. According to the "Decision of the Ministry of Public Security on Amending the Regulations on the Application and Use of Motor Vehicle Driver's Licenses," effective from April 1, 2016, you can apply for services such as renewing an expired driver's license, replacing due to exceeding the prescribed age, replacing due to damage, replacing due to changes in driver information, replacing due to changes in physical condition, or reissuing a lost license at the "vehicle management office where the driver's license was issued or at any other vehicle management office outside the place of issuance."
