What to Do When an Automatic Transmission Vehicle Runs Out of Battery?

Methods to handle an automatic transmission vehicle that has run out of battery: 1. Position the vehicle with a charged battery and the vehicle without power head-to-head, then open the engine hoods of both vehicles; 2. Connect one end of the red battery jumper cable to the positive terminal of the charged vehicle's battery and the other end to the positive terminal of the dead vehicle's battery; 3. Connect one end of the black battery jumper cable to the negative terminal of the charged vehicle's battery and the other end to the negative terminal of the dead vehicle's battery; 4. Start the vehicle with the charged battery and slightly increase the engine speed to maintain around 2000 RPM for about 5 minutes; 5. Start the vehicle without power to allow its engine to run normally; 6. Drive the vehicle without power to an auto repair shop for battery testing and replace the vehicle battery if necessary.
A while ago, I also encountered a dead battery situation with my own automatic transmission car. It's important to know that unlike manual transmission cars which can be push-started, automatic transmission cars become immobile once the battery is depleted. The most reliable solution is to find another car for a jump-start: first, bring the two cars close but not touching, connect the red jumper cable to the positive terminal and the black one to the negative terminal, ensuring the order is correct; then start the rescue car and let it run for a few minutes before attempting to start my car. If there are no other cars nearby, carrying a portable jump starter is especially practical—just plug it in to get out of trouble. Regularly pay attention to the battery's lifespan and check the terminals for corrosion or discharge every two years to prevent such incidents. Keeping an emergency toolkit in the car, including jumper cables, is essential. If the car stalls on the highway, immediately turn on the hazard lights and pull over. Automatic transmissions rely on electrical power for gear shifting, so never attempt to push-start it forcefully to avoid damaging the transmission.
