What to Do If Your Driver's License Renewal Exceeds 90 Days?

Visit the vehicle management office at the place where your motor vehicle driver's license was originally issued or any other vehicle management office outside the original issuance location to apply for a renewal. When applying, you should first fill out an application form. Then submit various documents, including the identity proof of the motor vehicle driver, the motor vehicle driver's license, and proof of physical condition. Next, the staff will need to review the submitted documents. Generally, the renewal can be completed on the spot, but in some large cities, it may take a few days, though it should not exceed 15 days at most.
I personally experienced this. Last year, I was too busy with work and forgot that my driver's license was about to expire. By the time I remembered, it had already been over 90 days. That day, I rushed to the DMV to ask. The staff said that if it's over 90 days but less than a year, it's still manageable. Usually, you just need to retake the theory test (Subject 1), which isn't too complicated. Prepare some documents: ID card, old driver's license, one-inch photo, and a medical examination certificate. The fine isn't much, just a few dozen yuan, but during the overdue period, the license is invalid, and you can't drive. If caught, it would be even more troublesome. They advised me to handle it immediately and not delay, as exceeding one year would require retaking all subjects. Later, I set a phone alarm reminder to never be lazy about it again.
