What to do if you don't want to fix ETC on the windshield?

It is acceptable not to fix the ETC on the windshield. Installing it on the dashboard under the windshield is also fine, as long as it doesn't obstruct the driver's view, interfere with ETC sensing, allows solar charging, and the small button on the back doesn't pop up. ETC activation method: Insert and remove the ETC card twice in succession until the electronic tag screen displays "Bluetooth is on". If inserting and removing twice without attaching the electronic tag shows "Tag invalid", this is normal and does not affect activation. Alternatively, you can press the button on top of the electronic tag to enable Bluetooth. Turn on your phone's Bluetooth, open the corresponding mobile app (usually with a download QR code on the electronic tag), and enter the device activation interface. Click on device connection and patiently wait for the "Connection successful" prompt. After successful connection, upload a photo of the vehicle's front to complete activation. Benefits of installing ETC: Saves time by eliminating the hassle of waiting in queues. Environmentally friendly, as vehicles pass through toll stations without stopping, reducing noise and exhaust emissions and minimizing pollution. Reduces wear and tear and saves costs by decreasing the frequency of vehicle starts and brakes, lowering wear and fuel consumption. Users also enjoy a 5% discount on toll fees. Improves efficiency, as ETC lanes can theoretically increase vehicle throughput by 2-3 times, making traditional ETC more updated, faster, and more high-tech. Compared to license plate payment, ETC technology is more mature and advantageous.
I also encountered the issue of not wanting to stick the ETC on the windshield, mainly worrying about leaving adhesive marks or affecting driving visibility. Later, I tried placing it on the dashboard, securing it with an anti-slip pad, and the ETC could still detect toll station signals normally. In principle, the device only needs to be near the front windshield area to function, not necessarily stuck firmly. The one I'm using now is a silicone pad with a suction cup design, easy to install and move for cleaning. Sometimes, when I'm away on business for a long time and the sun is strong, the adhesive might come loose, but the anti-slip pad is much more stable. I recommend buying high-quality car accessories to ensure the device is secure and doesn't wobble. This way, it's both convenient and aesthetically pleasing, while also avoiding damage to the glass.
