What to do if you clicked 'Defer License Renewal' on 12123?

Deferring license renewal still allows you to renew your license, it just extends the renewal period. You can proceed with the renewal according to the previous regulations. When applying for license renewal at the vehicle management office where the motor vehicle driver's license was originally issued, you should fill out the 'Motor Vehicle Driver's License Application Form'. Prepare 2 one-inch photos, a medical examination certificate, and bring your ID card and driver's license to the license processing hall. Submit your documents, medical examination form, and renewal application form to the staff, and pay the processing fee. Before renewing, check if there are any unprocessed traffic violations. If there are, you must handle them first; otherwise, the renewal will not be processed.
Yesterday I also clicked the license renewal extension operation on the Traffic Management 12123 app, but found the application got stuck without progress. Don't panic about this. Quickly go to the 'My Applications' section in the App to check the status of your extension record. If it shows 'Pending Review' or 'In Progress', just wait a few days for the system to process it. If it displays 'Additional Materials Required', such as missing the uploaded medical report or front/back photos of your ID card, you must immediately take and upload these documents without delay. After uploading, remember to refresh the page to confirm the status change. Sometimes network issues can also cause application failures – try logging out and back into the App to resolve this. If there's still no update after a week, directly call the 12123 hotline or visit your local vehicle management service center with your original ID card to proceed. Once you've applied for an extension, follow up promptly to avoid dragging it out until your driver's license expires, which could cause trouble and affect your safety on the road.
