What to Do If It Rains After Car Window Tinting?

Car window tinting is generally applied to the interior side of the windows. When it rains outside, simply close the car windows. The tinting technician will remind the car owner not to wash the car for a month, as they are concerned that car washers might use wet towels to wipe the film, causing it to bubble, peel, or wrinkle.
Right after I got my car windows tinted, it happened to rain and honestly, I was pretty nervous. But later, I asked the tinting technician and learned that as long as I didn’t roll down the windows, it would be fine. Rain hitting the surface of the windows isn’t a problem—just don’t be tempted to wipe it, and definitely don’t use the windshield wipers to scrub the front windshield film, or the newly applied film could get scratched. Also, avoid turning on the defroster if your rear window has heating wires. I noticed that small amounts of water at the edges of the film would evaporate on their own, usually drying within three to five days. That week, I made sure to park my car under a shelter, and if I had to go out, I avoided highways to prevent the wind from wrinkling the film. The tinting technician was right—the first three days are critical, and you need to baby the film like it’s in postpartum care.
