What to Do After a Dry Dual-Clutch Transmission Gets Submerged in Water?

Solutions for dry dual-clutch transmission submerged in water: 1. Clear water ingress: Avoid driving and operating the engine as much as possible. In this case, water will settle at the bottom of the gear oil in the transmission. Simply drain both the water and oil by removing the drain plug at the bottom of the transmission, then refill with new gear oil. 2. Disassemble and clean all components: If muddy water or water containing sediment enters, or if the vehicle is driven/operated after clear water ingress, the water will mix with the oil at high speed inside the transmission, causing emulsification that's difficult to separate. In such cases, the transmission must be removed, opened, and thoroughly cleaned. If sediment enters the bearings, especially the input shaft bearing, all internal components of the transmission must be disassembled and cleaned.
