When a motor vehicle is driven on the road, exceeding the speed limit in any speed-restricted zone constitutes speeding and is subject to penalties as per regulations. Speeding <50%: Exceeding the speed limit by less than 10% will not be penalized for the time being; exceeding the speed limit by more than 10% but less than 20% will result in a fine and 3 demerit points; exceeding the speed limit by more than 20% but less than 50% will result in a fine and 6 demerit points. Exceeding the speed limit by 50% or more: Exceeding the speed limit by more than 50% but less than 70% will result in a fine and 12 demerit points, and may also lead to the revocation of the driver's license; exceeding the speed limit by 70% or more will result in a fine and 12 demerit points, and may also lead to the revocation of the driver's license.
