The differences between regular car wash and deluxe car wash: Different processes: A regular car wash typically includes exterior washing and interior cleaning. A deluxe car wash, in addition to these two steps, also involves cleaning the engine compartment, removing tar stains from the surface, and cleaning and protecting the tires, taking approximately 40 minutes. Different prices: The price of a deluxe car wash is generally about twice that of a regular car wash. Although car washing may seem simple, doing it quickly, thoroughly, and to the customer's satisfaction is not easy. However, car wash services are one of the most important methods for auto detailing shops to attract business and retain customers. If the auto detailing industry is divided into two segments, car washing is the front end, while detailing and decoration are the back end. Professional and efficient car wash services leave a good impression on customers and establish a solid foundation of trust for selling other automotive products and services.

When I first started working at a car wash, I realized that a standard wash is like fast food service. They blast the car with a high-pressure hose, slap on some foam, swipe it a couple of times with a big mop, and call it done in 20 minutes. The focus is only on the exterior paint, with a quick brush over the tires and a spray of all-purpose cleaner for the interior. I've seen too many cars where the wheel crevices remain black and the door handle grooves are still dusty after a wash. A premium detailing service is completely different—they remove the wheels to meticulously scrub each spoke, use specialized leather cleaner to soften stains on seats, and clean air vents three times with a small brush. Just for wiping, they use three types of cloths: microfiber for glass, plush towels for paint, and suede for drying watermarks. Oh, and finally, they apply anti-aging treatment to plastic trim and matte tire protectant. The whole process takes about two hours.

As a compulsive car washer who cleans my vehicle weekly, I know regular washes only address surface-level issues. The day after a wash, I still get black hands from touching the inside of the wheel hubs, find leaf debris stuck in wiper blade gaps, and encounter sticky edges around door storage compartments. Premium detailing services go as far as vacuuming the spare tire well, cleaning cigarette lighter sockets with cotton swabs, and applying grease to trunk hinges. They even use specialized cleaners – iron remover for white cars, clay bar decontamination before ceramic coating for black vehicles, and pH-neutral solutions for leather seats. During my last detail, they waxed the mirror pivots and restored wiper blade rubber elasticity – experiences a regular car wash simply can't provide.

From the perspective of car wash supplies, regular car washes use alkaline detergents that can damage the paint, and recycled microfiber cloths may harbor sand particles. A premium car wash employs pH-neutral foam, and when using clay bars to remove oxidation layers, lubricants are applied to prevent scratches. The core difference lies in the deep treatment process: a premium car wash must include steps for tar, iron particle, and wheel cleaning, followed by a full-body coating. The engine bay is dusted with anti-static brushes, and after glass coating, water droplets exhibit a leaf effect. Just the cost of the car wash solution is five times higher than that of regular washes, not to mention the one-time cost of hundreds for ceramic coating agents.

Simply put, it's the difference between the basic and VIP versions. A regular car wash costs 25 yuan and only rinses the surface, which can easily leave water marks and swirl marks. The premium car wash is more expensive mainly due to the attention to detail: door frame seals need , sunroof tracks are cleared of sand and dirt, exhaust pipe inner walls are polished, and even the inside of the fuel tank cap is wiped. It also takes longer—I've seen shops spend 4 hours washing a Lexus. If you drive a new car or want to protect the paint, spending an extra 200 yuan is quite worth it, especially to prevent white cars from yellowing and black cars from developing swirl marks. But for older cars, a regular wash is usually sufficient.
