What Oil to Use in All Seasons?
1 Answers
For all seasons, oil grades such as 5W40, 5W30, 5W20, 0W40, 0W30, 0W20, etc., can be used. The classification of oil and the reasons for the oil light to come on are as follows: Oil Classification: Oil grades are represented by a combination of two letters. The 'S' series represents oil for gasoline engines, with specifications ranging from SA to SN in alphabetical order, skipping SI, with each increment representing a higher grade. The 'C' series represents oil for diesel engines. If both 'S' and 'C' letters are present, it indicates that the oil is suitable for both gasoline and diesel engines. Reasons for the Oil Light to Come On: High engine temperature can thin the oil, causing it to leak excessively through the clearances and leading to a drop in oil pressure. Insufficient oil quantity reduces the oil pump's output or prevents it from pumping oil due to air intake, resulting in decreased oil pressure. Improper clearance between the crankshaft and the main or connecting rod bearings—too tight increases oil pressure, while too loose decreases it, among other reasons.
