Private car inspection requires the following materials: 1. Vehicle license; 2. Original copy of compulsory traffic insurance; 3. Proof of vehicle and vessel tax payment or tax exemption (usually purchased together with compulsory traffic insurance, this item can be found in the compulsory traffic insurance policy. If not found, ask the insurance company, as some regions may pay separately); 4. Owner's ID card. If handled by someone else, the agent needs to bring their own ID card; 6. For company vehicles, also prepare the agent's materials, including the original vehicle license, copy of compulsory traffic insurance, Organization Code Certificate of the People's Republic of China (with fresh seal), power of attorney (with fresh seal), and a copy of the agent's ID card.

I just went through my private car’s annual inspection. As an experienced driver, preparing the materials is key: you need to bring the original and a copy of the owner’s ID card, and don’t forget the vehicle’s registration certificate (commonly known as the 'big green book'), which proves the car’s identity. The compulsory insurance policy is essential—otherwise, the inspection station will hold you up. Make sure to settle all traffic violations in advance, or the system won’t approve it. The exterior inspection is also important, so wash the car thoroughly and ensure there are no modifications, like overly dark window tinting. I recommend going to the inspection station early, bringing cash or WeChat Pay, as some places charge a service fee of a few dozen yuan. Choose a weekday morning for fewer crowds and higher efficiency. From my experience, I saved a lot of hassle—just remember not to miss any materials, or you’ll waste time and energy going back and forth.

Last time I went for a vehicle inspection as a beginner, the material checklist taught me a lot: I had to bring my ID card and vehicle license to prove ownership; the vehicle registration certificate (that green booklet) is indispensable; a printed copy of the compulsory insurance policy is required, and while vehicle damage insurance might not be necessary, it's recommended to bring it; also, make sure there are no outstanding traffic violations on the vehicle, which can be checked easily via an app; the car's exterior must be clean, as severe tire wear or damaged lights will cause it to fail; choose an inspection station close to home, bring some water and a power bank for your phone, as you might wait for an hour or so; having all the materials ready ensures a quick pass, avoiding multiple trips that waste time and effort. It saves money and gives peace of mind.

When taking your family for the vehicle inspection, keep the required documents simple but strict: always carry your ID card, vehicle license, and vehicle registration certificate; don't forget the insurance policy, just bring the compulsory insurance proof slip; make sure the car is clean with no scratches or modifications; check and clear all traffic violation records on your phone in advance. This will make the safety inspection go smoother, saving you both money and hassle.

What are the new regulations for annual vehicle inspections after 15 years in 2021?

According to the latest vehicle inspection regulations, vehicles over 15 years old must undergo inspection every six months. For non-operational small and micro passenger vehicles (excluding minivans) that are over 6 years but less than 10 years old, the inspection cycle has been relaxed from once a year to once every two years. This means private cars only need to undergo two on-site inspections within 10 years, specifically in the 6th and 8th years. For private cars over 10 years old, the original inspection cycle still applies, meaning vehicles aged 10-15 years must be inspected annually. Below are important notes regarding overdue vehicle inspections: 1. Accident Liability: For any traffic accidents caused by vehicles that fail to undergo timely inspections, the involved party will bear full or primary responsibility, and the insurance company will not be liable. This is because the insurance policy specifies that vehicles with expired inspections are excluded from coverage. 2. Mandatory Scrapping: According to the "Mandatory Scrapping Standards for Motor Vehicles," any motor vehicle that fails to obtain an inspection compliance mark for three consecutive inspection cycles after the expiration of its inspection validity period will be mandatorily scrapped.
