Film-coated cowhide is also known as cowhide split leather. Leather is categorized by layers: There are top-grain and split leathers, with split leather mostly distinguished by raw materials, such as cow split and pig split. Characteristics of cowhide split leather: The reverse side is the second layer of cowhide leather, coated with a layer of PU resin on the surface, hence it is also called film-coated cowhide. Features of cowhide split leather: Split leather is obtained by slicing thick leather with a splitting machine. The top layer is used for full-grain or corrected-grain leather, while the split layer undergoes a series of processes like coating or film application to become split leather. This gives the leather surface various colors and patterns. Before film coating, the leather retains advantages like breathability and flexibility. For split leather without surface film coating, the surface is usually sueded.
