Coated split leather is also known as second-layer cowhide. Leather is categorized by layers: there are top-grain and split leather, with split leather mostly distinguished by raw materials, such as cow split and pig split. Characteristics of split cowhide: its reverse side is the second layer of cowhide material, coated with a layer of PU resin on the surface, hence also called coated split leather. Features of split cowhide: split leather is obtained by splitting thick hides with a splitting machine, with the top layer used for full-grain or corrected-grain leather, while the split layer undergoes a series of processes like finishing or coating to become split leather. This gives the leather surface various colors and patterns. Before the coating process, the leather retains its breathability and flexibility advantages. Without surface coating, this type of split leather usually undergoes a sueding treatment on the surface.
