What Kind of Motorcycle is Called a 'Jiche'?

In Taiwanese society, 'Jiche' refers to what is commonly known as 'small-displacement motorcycles' in mainland China, indicating a difference in terminology between Taiwanese compatriots and mainlanders. It does not encompass all motorcycles, as large-displacement motorcycles in Taiwan are still referred to as 'motorcycles.' Motorcycles, in terms of maximum speed, weight, and power output, fall under the category of motor vehicles. Based on displacement, they are classified into 50cc light motorcycles, 50-250cc small motorcycles, 250-600cc medium motorcycles, and those exceeding 600cc are called heavy motorcycles. By model type, they can also be categorized into street bikes, sports bikes, rally bikes, off-road bikes, etc. The diameter of the cylinder is referred to as the bore. The piston moves reciprocally within the cylinder; the distance traveled by the piston from the top dead center (TDC) to the bottom dead center (BDC) is called the piston stroke, or simply stroke. Working principle: The intake valve opens, the piston moves downward, and the mixture of gasoline and air is drawn into the cylinder. At this point, both the intake and exhaust valves close, the piston moves upward, compressing the mixture. When the mixture is compressed to its minimum, the spark plug ignites it, and the pressure generated by combustion pushes the piston downward, rotating the crankshaft. When the piston reaches the lowest point, the exhaust valve opens to expel the exhaust gases, and the piston continues to move upward to expel any remaining exhaust gases.
