What kind of engine oil is suitable for the Vision?

According to the manufacturer's manual requirements, the Vision should use engine oil of the following grades: 1. Summer: 20W-50 and 15W-40-API SJ or SL multi-grade engine oil. 2. Winter: 10W-30 and 5W-30-API SJ or SL multi-grade engine oil. Semi-synthetic and full-synthetic engine oils have two main differences: 1. Full-synthetic engine oil contains no mineral oil components, while semi-synthetic oil contains some. 2. The biggest difference between the two is that full-synthetic oil can operate over a wider temperature range and has a longer service life. For the same oil film requirements, full-synthetic oil can achieve the desired protection with lower viscosity, whereas semi-synthetic oil requires higher viscosity to meet the same requirements. 3. In the same working environment, full-synthetic oil can protect the engine with lower viscosity. Similarly, under the same conditions, full-synthetic oil lasts much longer than semi-synthetic oil, so although the initial cost is higher, when considering the reduced frequency of oil changes, it is not significantly more expensive than mineral oil.
Having driven the Vision for several years, I've learned that choosing engine oil depends on daily usage. Generally, I recommend using 5W-30 full synthetic oil, which is particularly suitable for urban commuting—it lubricates quickly during cold starts and improves fuel efficiency. I've tried several brands myself, like Shell's HX8 series, which works well—the engine runs quieter, and maintenance intervals can be extended to around 8,000 km per change. In northern winters, its excellent low-temperature fluidity provides better engine protection. The Vision's engine is fairly basic, so it doesn't need expensive oil; full synthetic offers great value, preventing carbon buildup and minor issues. Remember to check the dipstick regularly and top up if the level is low. From experience, matching oil to climate and driving habits keeps the car running smoothly and extends its lifespan.
