What kind of engine does Hongqi use?

Hongqi uses engines produced by Tianjin FAW Toyota Engine Factory, which are domestically manufactured. Most Hongqi models use the CA4GC engine series. For example, the Hongqi HS5 is equipped with a 2.0T all-new CA4GC inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering a maximum power of 165kW and maximum torque of 340Nm. For daily maintenance of Hongqi engines, the following methods can be applied: Use lubricating oil of appropriate quality grade. For gasoline engines, select SD-SF grade gasoline engine oil based on the additional devices in the intake and exhaust systems and usage conditions; for diesel engines, choose CB-CD grade diesel engine oil according to mechanical load, with the selection standard not lower than the manufacturer's requirements; Regularly change the engine oil and filter. The quality of any grade of lubricating oil will degrade during use. After a certain mileage, its performance deteriorates, which can cause various engine problems. To avoid malfunctions, change the oil regularly based on usage conditions and maintain an appropriate oil level; When oil passes through the fine pores of the filter, solid particles and viscous substances in the oil accumulate in the filter. If the filter becomes clogged and oil cannot pass through the filter element, it may rupture the filter element or open the safety valve, allowing oil to bypass through the bypass valve, bringing contaminants back to the lubrication areas, accelerating engine wear and increasing internal contamination; Regularly clean the crankcase. During engine operation, high-pressure unburned gases, acids, moisture, sulfur, and nitrogen oxides from the combustion chamber enter the crankcase through the gap between the piston rings and cylinder walls, mixing with metal particles from component wear to form sludge. Small amounts remain suspended in the oil, while larger amounts precipitate, clogging filters and oil passages, making engine lubrication difficult and causing wear; Regularly use radiator cleaner to clean the radiator. Removing rust and scale not only ensures proper engine operation but also extends the overall lifespan of the radiator and engine.
I've driven quite a few Hongqi cars and particularly love their engine configurations. The Hongqi H9 is equipped with a 3.0L V6 turbocharged engine producing around 280 horsepower, delivering smooth acceleration on highways with strong initial thrust and fuel consumption controlled under 9L/100km, which is quite fuel-efficient. The base model Hongqi H5 features a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged engine (model CA4GC20TD) with 192 horsepower, more than sufficient for daily commuting. Driving in urban areas feels smooth without jerking, and it handles slopes effortlessly. Hongqi now exclusively uses self-developed engines, with the CA series optimized for thermal efficiency and compression ratio to ensure reliability. Hybrid versions like the H7 PHEV combine electric motors for greater environmental friendliness, offering about 40km of pure electric range, ideal for daily use. Maintenance costs are moderate, and I've had no issues over three years of ownership. Overall, Hongqi engines strike a good balance between performance and practicality, making them worth trying if you seek a stable driving experience.
