What is VIN?

Vehicle VIN code is the vehicle identification number. Composition of VIN code: The vehicle identification number, sometimes also referred to as the chassis number, is a set of 17 English letters or numbers that can identify the manufacturer, engine, chassis serial number, and other information of the vehicle. To avoid confusion with the numbers 1 and 0, the English letters "I", "O", and "Q" are not used; each VIN is unique and will not be repeated. Introduction to VIN code: The first three digits of the VIN are called WMI (World Manufacturer Identifier), used to identify the manufacturer's name and country of origin. For manufacturers producing fewer than 500 vehicles per year, the third digit of the VIN will use the number 9, and digits 12-14 will be used as the second part of identification. Some manufacturers use the third digit of the VIN to classify the type of vehicle, such as trucks or buses. Taking vehicles produced by Sweden's Volvo as an example, cars use YV1, trucks use YV2, and buses and coaches use YV3.
