Timing mainly refers to valve timing, which generally indicates the opening and closing times of the intake and exhaust valves as well as the maximum valve lift point. It is translated from the English term "timing." The opening and closing of valves are driven by the camshaft, and nowadays, the camshaft is driven by the crankshaft through a chain system or pulley. Therefore, the chain system that drives the camshaft is called the timing chain. Information about timing chains is as follows: 1. Its main function is to drive the engine's valve train, ensuring that the engine's intake and exhaust valves open or close at the appropriate times to allow normal air intake and exhaust in the engine cylinders. 2. As an indispensable component in the core parts of a car, the timing chain naturally has a certain degree of assembly difficulty. Some engines' timing chains have several obvious marks to ensure precision while reducing installation difficulty to some extent.
I remember when I first got into cars years ago, the timing system really confused me.
