There are three types of validity periods for motor vehicle driver's licenses: six years, ten years, and long-term. The initial issuance of a motor vehicle driver's license is valid for 6 years. If no scoring cycle reaches 12 points within the 6-year validity period, the license can be renewed to a 10-year validity period. If no scoring cycle reaches 12 points within the 10-year validity period, the license can be renewed to a long-term valid motor vehicle driver's license. Introduction to the renewal time of motor vehicle driver's licenses: 1. Regulations on driver's license renewal time: Article 35 of the Ministry of Public Security Order No. 91 stipulates that motor vehicle drivers should apply for renewal at the vehicle management office of the driver's license issuing place within 90 days before the expiration of the driver's license. If a motor vehicle driver fails to renew the license within one year after the expiration, the license will be automatically canceled by the system. 2. Regulations on the time of driver's license inspection: Article 48 of the Ministry of Public Security Order No. 91 stipulates that motor vehicle drivers aged 60 or above, or those holding driving licenses for large passenger vehicles (A1), tractor vehicles (A2), urban buses (A3), medium-sized passenger vehicles (B1), large trucks (B2), trolleybuses (N), or trams (P) should undergo a physical examination once a year and submit a physical condition certificate issued by a medical institution at or above the county or military regiment level within 15 days after the scoring cycle ends.
