What is the torque specification for an engine oil pan drain plug?

Generally, the torque specification for cast iron oil pan drain plugs is 22-27 Nm, while for aluminum oil pans it's 15-22 Nm. Here are solutions for stripped drain plug threads: 1. First place a rubber pad or double-sided tape over the stripped threads to increase friction. 2. Then use an appropriate screwdriver (preferably power-assisted) to remove the stripped plug. Note that the rubber pad shouldn't be too thick to avoid entanglement. 3. Alternatively, you can carefully saw a slot into the plug using a hacksaw or repeatedly score it with a utility knife to create a flathead screw slot, then remove it with a flathead screwdriver.
